Dear WTU member,
At a special membership meeting last week, hundreds of WTU members voted unanimously to reject the latest DCPS compensation offer, which fell far short of what is fair to teachers. Your WTU bargaining team will continue to push for a better compensation package---but we need your help!
On Friday, March 3 at 8am we’ll rally at Freedom Plaza, 14th and Pennsylvania Ave. NW, to press DCPS and the mayor to give DC teachers a fair salary increase—and to tell them to settle our contract so we can begin our real work together to fix our schools and save them from the coming war on public education!
Teachers are not required to report to school until 12 noon on Friday. So, I really need all of you at Freedom Plaza at 8 am on Friday! We need our collective voice of 4,800 members strong behind our bargaining team. Teachers must demand that the city #PlayFair & PayFair because power concedes nothing without a demand! See you at Freedom Plaza on Friday morning at 8 am. Please share the attached flyer with your colleagues, parents, friends and allies!
